For me, having passion and being a woman who is filled with passion is second nature and right next to breathing..without it – I’m a body without a soul.
Now, it’s usually stated boldly that love, money and power makes the world go round. Well, I’ll have to disagree here.Although all those things do contribute to change on both a personal and global scale –I think it’s good old PASSION, that makes the world go round and round .
In other words, will you ride on love alone, and not have to passion to fight for him or her? Or on money alone, and not have the drive to create that financial security? Or on power and security alone and yet never ask for what you feel you deserve?
1) There is an underlying prerequisite.
So now that you’ve hopefully got my point, all this require a prerequisite in order to get what you have your heart set on.
You need a type of pre-requisite that is not only sustainable, but strong enough to help you remain in the game. What game you might ask? Well, let’s call it simply – LIFE - and that pre-requisite for attaining our goals is of course, PASSION.
2) Where does the word passion come from?
The Greeks associated the word PASSION with suffering. Sounds terrible huh? How can we achieve our goals when we are in a state of suffering? Isn’t that the opposite of clear consciousness, peace, happiness and order? ..Not really!
And What about logic and reason you ask? Aren’t those the type of reasoning necessary to achieve our goals and dreams? Yes, logic and reason are very important, in fact, they create the balance that passion lacks – since the nature of Passion herself (please excuse the personification) is to flow, surge, rush, penetrate, thrust, and move with a sheer force that yearns, wants, fights for without hesitation, doubt, without being sidetracked or discouraged – even if those “things" pop up like a curve ball thrown at you. A person with passion will overcome, challenge or surpass such “traps” in exchange for what they want.
3) Where does passion travel?
Passion travels quickly in nature, through things and towards what you set your internal eye on. When you allow this energy to flow openly and consistently in your life – you are very likely to achieve those goals and dreams – but this very force can also get out of hand and become single sighted, and turn into an ignorant pursuit when not “tamed” properly.
Now, don’t get all excited, fearful or doubtful…some of us are passionate by nature and others are more calculated (or shall I say highly cautious by nature) but this does not mean reason, wisdom, insight or responsibility, should be thrown out the window. Having too much passion and not enough calm balance, can jeopardize you from reaching what you want – and this occurs when we allow our EGO to overtake our spirit, common sense, wisdom, consciousness, insight, and our responsibility to ourselves and others.
a) Be passionate about your goals, but make a clear plan in life or even for the next 2 years.
b) Be passionate, but keep your feet planted on the ground.
c) Be passionate, but keep in touch with reality (she’s your best friend and will most likely save you from a broken heart, an empty bank account or any other “wild ideas” you’ve harbored all your life)
d) Be passionate, but invest your time and energy wisely through your journey and make sure you’re not giving up 80% for 20%…Aka – instant gratification/temptation.
4) Keep Calm
When you have too much passion and not enough reason, you reduce your chances of achieving your goals towards whatever it is that you are drawn towards. Therefore, the spirit should always be in check, your intentions, sense of stability and so forth, before you willfully jump in the pit of smoldering lava sliding down bare belly! Yikes!
5) What's the secret recipe?
Fierce intensity, focus, determination, stamina, will power, perseverance, and confidence coupled with a winning attitude.
6) Anything is possible? YES.
Whether you want to build sand castles (literally), open up a charity, propose to your girlfriend, join the army, save a life, join the NBA, lose weight, finish your degree, be a better mother or father to your children, learn how to drive, quit smoking, quit drinking, prove to the “sunshine” of your life that your “the one” while spewing poetry from cloud number nine, build a house, a family, whether you want to bake a thousand cakes, open up a business, mend a broken friendship, save money, search for your birth mother, join the circus, be a model, an elephant tamer , an artist, a nudist, a clown, a martyr, an activist, a writer, a philosopher gazing at the stars at 1:00 am!!!! With those ingredients, you can do so. With a winning attitude, you will land in the right place, at the right time and your hot energy won’t let you down.
7) Secret tip.
Be yourself and be passionate about your hobbies. Chances are, your hobbies will open many doors for you.
8) Tame your desires.
Passion can turn into uncontrollable desire too fast. Remember to take “control” of your drive but with a side order of reason, careful planning and wisdom. And don’t tell me… “the heart has reasons of which reason knows nothing” Yes, a great quote by Blaise Pascal – but reason always knows how to bring back your sanity when you’ve lost yourself deep in the shadows of your own insanity. So, with the RIGHT amount of personal drive (fuel to the fire, oxygen to your nostrils, and beats to your heart) call it what you want… anything is possible!
9) What do you see?
Now, let’s paint a little image. What does life look like without passion you might wonder? Well, moldy, slow, lethargic, boring, damp, gloomy, borderline depressive, uninspiring …and as in the wonderful words of Hobbes, “nasty, brutish and short”…..Just kidding, it won’t be that bad! But nothing is worse then being in a passionless state.
A soldier that reflects back the courage of a lion (even while trembling inside) or a couch potato that shoves in low fat potato chips after consuming three cans of coke zero for 360 days a year dreaming of what could have been? Now ask yourself this…are YOU the soldier or the couch potato in your life? Harsh, but reality.
With enough passion, you can break through walls, glass, metal, steal, and destructive emotions such as pity, guilt, doubt, insecurity, and so on: (And by break through, I mean figuratively, not literally!)
10) Not only WHAT but HOW.
Your passions need to have an element of balance and reason, because it’s not only WHAT you want, but also HOW you decide to achieve that goal.
When your eyes are bigger than your stomach, you’re left with a hefty bill and feelings of shame or maybe guilt, right? Kind of the same thing… and if you’re admitted into an insane asylum with thick shackles around your feet because you built a cool igloo in the middle of an intersection to save endangered seals while fiercely picketing naked, well…sorry to say, but you probably fell of the “balance radar” and onto the bandwagon called obsession – and that’s no place to be – and that’s when you’ll need something a lot more stronger then passion to bring you back down to earth (or at least out on parole) and that would be intervention from the heavens.
11) Everyone has a passion.
If you have a hobby, you have a passion. Think of the one thing that makes you happy: cup cakes? One legged seagulls, dancing? God? Think, think, think…. got it? …GREAT… Now capture that in your mind and do something about it. Or better yet! Imagine if I came up to you and held your nose tight for 10 minutes… would you not panic? What would be the first thing you’d passionately fight for? .....(air?)
That’s the way to do it!
And for our shyer souls, what’s the worse that can happen to you? You’ll get noticed for your pensive stare and unrelenting intensity?…who cares! …. now go out and be sexy! Be bold! And be you!
